Bring back Adrian on Saturday surely? Slag is either too nice, has a massive problem with Adrian or is just ducking clueless.

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Absolutely.
Even with an injury he was our best defender.

Good point about the covering for Cresswell as well.

I honestly don't think Randolph is a bad keeper for what's it worth.
He doesn't worry me from the first kick. The back four does though.

Didn't have a great start to the season himself, however was because he was playing with injury.

Cant see us keeping a clean sheet at the mo.

BOTH keepers aren't good enough

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
What Bell said...not only did Ogbonna do his own job more than competently, he did a lot of covering for Cresswell, who has been underachieving this campaign.

This year, we need to give Byram a chance (he'll come good) but he needs support from the bloke in front of him....that bloke should not be Feghouli, who is woeful (both going forward and particularly defending).
Put Fernandes ahead of Byram, I appreciate that he's a 'kid' but he's a VERY good kid. That will free up Lanzini to push forward.

All too often on Saturday he picked the ball up in front of our back four, when he needs to be in possession inn front of the opposition back four

Next season, we'll have Ogbonna back, Kayoute and Obiang holding and we'll be fine
!

We miss Ogbonna massively.

Adrian has more presence, character & personality which are important for a keeper.
I have never ever thought Randolph is that good and certainly not good enough to be our number one!

Yet anlother odd decision by Billic.

They're both shit

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Knowing how our owners have treated certain players in the best would it surprise anyone if we found that if Adrian played a certain number of games he would trigger an automatic extension of his contract in his favour which would put him in a pretty strong position when negotiating, so the club including Billic especially after Adrian's dip in form have decided not to allow this to happen and have gambled on a Championship quality keeper like Randolph instead?

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Having a solid keeper should be the foundation upon which a team is built. Our defence is shot, and the biggest reason is the man behind them.

Lily Hammer 8:27 Sat Apr 1
Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
So, between us all, we seemed to have nailed down the priorities as a quality keeper, a quality striker, a quality right back, a quality central midfielder, and a quality manager, with perhaps a couple of quality centre backs to go with a quality left back. That with a quality talismanic Payet-like player, and this time next year, we'll be millwionaires.

Eerie Descent 8:24 Sat Apr 1
Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Neither is good enough. Has to be our top priority in the summer getting a new keeper.

Thought he was shit again today. Another set piece. Stav is ttoo nice to drop him

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Thing is, the bottom properly fell out our season last year in those few games at the end where randolph came in. I like him in general but I just don't think he leads or inspires the defence and although Adrian made a couple of howlers Randolph seems to make a lot of 'should do better' mistakes

He cost us points away at Spurs (pushing the ball away from Reid straight to lane) Liverpool (clanger) Leicester (gifted the lead at the weekend) and is pretty awful at dealing with crosses (West Brom at home, 90th minute)

Adrian was dropped after stoke at home (made worse by the fact that there was an international break in between so it was quite a considered decision not just an instant reaction from Slav) but Randolph has made far more errors this season.

Personally I'd swap back just to see if there's any improvement - I think Adrian's given us enough to deserve a second chance

Either way, we should be all out for a keeper in the summer - Pickford maybe?

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
It's hard to use the goals conceded ratio as a judge. For instance Randolph had zero chance with two of Leicester's goals.

I think Adrian is better personally, but shot stopping etc. aside, he's made a few very rash decisions this season. Could have been sent off against Man U, the Stoke goal, and a few others.

Wonder if Bilic thought he was just being a bit too hot headed and a bit of a risk. Talent wise there's very little between them, but for me Adrian is better.

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Billic has probably fallen out with Adrian as well.

It is clear to most even my Spurs mate that Adrian is the better keeper.
He at least has a pressence and looks like a keeper, Randolph is too small. Adrian is better at coming out to close down the one on ones, better in the air and equally as good a shot stopper.

Westside 5:34 Wed Mar 22
Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Randolph has played 17 league games this season, conceding 32 goals. 1.88 per game

Adrian has played 11 league games this season conceding 20 goals. 1.82 per game.

So bugger all in it.

For my money Adrian is more headstrong and will make rash decisions (like against Stoke at home). Randolph will be less rash, but is less dominant and will "stay at home" more, leading to some easy goals conceded.

At the moment I'd go with Adrian.

Don't think I can stand watching Adrian trying to save everything with his legs again ..surprise he doesn't do a handstand at corners

Nick QQQ 12:05 Tue Mar 21
Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
Agree not a coincidence that the poor form of our defence coincides. Remember playing in front of a shot keeper myself and you are always rushing your own play not knowing what is going on behind you

Re: Goals conceded ratio Randolph v Adrian
mr snoogans, no its not just you. One of the things a keeper should be doing is organising his defence especially at set pieces. I don't think its a coincidence that the defence look like they've never trained together at the moment.
